Reno man dies more than 2 weeks after being struck by car in West Sacramento

A pedestrian who suffered major head injuries when he was struck by a vehicle late last month in West Sacramento died Monday, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The accident occurred about 8:21 p.m. Nov. 29 in the area of West Capitol Avenue and Pecan Street, where a man was hit by a dark-colored Toyota sedan, West Sacramento Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Angle told The Sacramento Bee at the time. The victim was taken to a hospital with critical head injuries, and the driver stayed on scene and was cooperative with police.

Coroner records indicate that the victim, Devon McEwen, 27, of Reno, died Monday at the hospital.

Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision, Angle said. No other details were released.
