You’re beaming now.
If you are a Sacramento Kings fan, the 126-123 win of the Golden State Warriors wiped away 17 years of the blues and had to make you feel purple all over. The Kings lit the victory beam after the first playoff game at Golden 1 Center, capping an evening of DoCo partying, righteous hoops and expectations fulfilled.
Dawn of a new era? One game, three to go? False hope? We’ll do it again Monday and hope to beam again.
In the meantime, let’s relive the evening. We covered the event inside and out. Sports reporters Jason Anderson, Chris Biderman and Joe Davidson kept us updated on the game and even the celebrities in the house, California Opinion Editor and long-time Kings fan Marcos Bretón found out how loud G1C can be and reporter Maya Miller, with assistant visuals editor Lezlie Sterling, roamed outside, with her phone battery running low, and witnessed the joy of fans watching the purple beam strike the heavens. Reporter Mike McGough captured the sights and sounds of media, and visual journalists Paul Kitagaki and Xavier Mascareñas helped provide those for our Bee audience.
We published their work over the course of the evening. In case you missed it, here’s a sampling:
