The area’s top two football recruits are heading to Oregon.

Another player from the Sacramento region announced Wednesday that he’ll soon be a Duck, too.

Kahlef Hailassie, a cornerback from Cosumnes Oaks High School, tweeted Wednesday that he’s committed to attending the Pacific-12 Conference university in Eugene, calling it a “once in a lifetime opportunity.”

“There is a lot of kids out there I know who are SO hungry for 1 offer and I’ve been blessed to have multiple,” Hailassie says in a message on Twitter. “My story just goes to show everyone who’s been going through adversity to keep working hard and trusting in God and you will be in so much better of a situation.”

According to the Duck Territory page on 247Sports, Hailassie – who signed with Oregon on Wednesday evening – is a three-star recruit who also had offers from Colorado, Florida Atlantic, Fresno State, Utah State Washington State and others.

Hailassie will join Christian Brothers tight end Spencer Webb and Inderkum receiver Isaah Crocker on coach Mario Cristobal’s squad at Oregon.
