Sheriff’s report details confrontation between Placer supervisor rivals at GOP event
A Placer County supervisor said a Lincoln City Councilmember and campaign opponent assaulted her by throwing papers in her face at a local Republican Party event last month, though she declined to press charges, according to a Placer County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The two candidates attended a Placer County Republican Party event March 11 at Action Academy Placer, 725 Vernon St. in Roseville when the encounter occurred, the police report said.
According to the report, Supervisor Shanti Landon and members of her political team were handing out a three-page packet containing political messaging that upset her 2nd District opponent, Lincoln City Councilmember Holly Andreatta.
The report was made public through a Public Records Act request by the Voices of Placer, a social media account run by Alicia Watkins that frequently posts criticism of local conservative candidates, including Andreatta.
In Andreatta’s statement summary, she said Landon’s team was distributing information and timelines that “painted Holly Andreatta in a bad light.”
The contest between the two candidates dated back to 2024, when Lincoln residents raised concerns about a proposed medical respite center planned for downtown near several schools. Lincoln officials alleged the organization behind the project did not properly disclose its plans to the city.
Both Landon and Andreatta have faced accusations of withholding information about the proposal.
Landon said the packet included her endorsement list, a timeline regarding the Gathering Inn project in Lincoln, and a news release about Andreatta’s emails tied her guest appearance at Twelve Bridges High School’s Club America meeting.
According to the report, created the next day and completed March 16, Andreatta approached Landon and her husband to discuss the flyer.
The report synopsis said Andreatta threw the papers at Landon, hitting her in the face.
Andreatta told deputies she threw the papers toward Landon’s lap, but Landon and two witnesses said the papers hit Landon in the face.
Landon declined to press charges but asked deputies to document the event in case another confrontation occurred.
Elise Soviar, a Placer County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, said the documentation most likely fell under the agency’s jurisdiction instead of Roseville’s because Landon is a resident of unincorporated Placer County.
Landon said she sought documentation regardless of jurisdiction.
“It was easiest because PCSO has authority in any incorporated city,” she said. “If something comes up in the future, rather than having to go to a separate entity, I would already have a report on file so I don’t have to go to multiple jurisdictions.”
Andreatta declined to comment on the incident Wednesday, saying she did not trust that her remarks would be reported accurately.
Landon said the incident contradicted her opponent’s messaging in the nonpartisan campaign in the June election.
“It’s especially concerning given her claims of ‘transparency’ and ‘integrity.’ Our community deserves composure and decorum, at a minimum, from our elected officials,” she said.
