Want to get out of the house and entertain visiting friends, family or even yourself this weekend? Here’s your guide to navigating the Sacramento region with fun activities and things to do such as concerts, community farmers markets and preparation for the Sacramento Kings 2025-26 regular season.
The weather is expected to improve after early-week rain, with sunny days and cool evenings forecast across the region. Daytime temperatures will range from the mid-60s to low 70s, with nighttime lows dipping into the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service office in Sacramento.
Get ready to bring on the weekend around the Sacramento region and check out this list of events and activities near and around the capital city.
Maroon 5 at Golden 1 Center
Maroon 5, the Grammy-winning pop rock band behind early-2000s hits like “Sunday Morning” and “She Will Be Loved,” will perform Friday night at Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento as part of their Love Is Like Tour with opener Claire Rosinkranz.
Doors open at 8 p.m.
The Los Angeles-based group is also known for chart-topping singles including “This Love,” “Payphone” featuring Wiz Khalifa, and “Don’t Wanna Know” with Kendrick Lamar.
Tickets start at $195 on Ticketmaster.
Kings Fan Fest and open practice
The Sacramento Kings will hold their annual Fan Fest and open practice Saturday at Golden 1 Center, giving fans a free chance to see the team before the regular season tips off.
The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. at the Downtown Commons Plaza, where Kings DJs will spin music throughout the plaza. Golden 1 Center doors open at 12:30 p.m. Fans can meet Kings in-arena hosts Scott Freshour and Scott Moak, who will emcee the event.
Appearances are also scheduled by team mascots Slamson and Dunkson, the Stockton Kings mascot, and NBC Sports California broadcasters Kayte Christensen, Kyle Draper, Morgan Ragan and Deuce Mason.
The open practice starts at 1:30 p.m.
The event is free, but registration is required. Tickets are available at www.Kings.com/FanFest.
Oak Park Farmers Market
The Food Literacy Center will host the Oak Park Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at McClatchy Park, 3500 5th Ave., in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood.
The weekly event offers fresh, locally grown produce, artisanal goods, food vendors and family-friendly activities.
Each week features new recipe samples, kids’ crafts and community resources. The market is free and open to the public. SNAP and EBT benefits are accepted.
Annual Highwater Jamboree
The city of Sacramento is hosting its annual Highwater Jamboree from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at North Natomas Regional Park, 2501 New Market Drive.
The event provides residents an up-close look at flood-fighting tools, equipment and technology. With the amount of rain that the Sacramento region has seen this week from an early-season storm, the free event gives the public a chance to see how local, state and federal agencies prepare for flood season.
On display will be rescue vehicles, heavy trucks, automatic sandbagging machines and “The Claw,” a tractor-like machine used to collect leaves and debris.
The event is free and open to the public.
Sacramento State Football, postgame concert with Lil Yachty
Hornets football is coming off a bye-week getting some deserved rest and extra reps before their next game.
Sacramento State hosts Northern Colorado at 6 p.m. at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, coming off of a 55-27 victory against Weber State in Ogden, Utah on Oct. 11.
After the game, rapper Lil Yachty will perform a postgame concert at the stadium. The artist is known for tracks including “A Cold Sunday,” “Poland,” “All Around the World,” and numerous collaborations.
General admission tickets for adults are $27; children's tickets are $17.
Kings Fan Fest at Westfield Galleria
Westfield Galleria at Roseville, 1151 Galleria Blvd., will host its third annual Sacramento Kings event, “Tip-Off the Season,” on Sunday from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
The free event features a meet-and-greet photo opportunity with third-year Kings guard Keon Ellis, a former standout at Alabama. Autographs will not be permitted. The event will be emceed by ESPN 1320 host Damien Barling and 106.5 The End’s “Wake Up Call” host Katie.
From 2 to 3 p.m., fans can enjoy entertainment including Kings dancers, a dance-off, and a push-up challenge with mascot Slamson, according to the team. Photo opportunities with Ellis will follow from 3 to 4 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early.

City Cruises along the Sacramento River are ramping up their seasonal rides in preparation for Halloween. Cruises begin Friday and run every Thursday through Sunday until Oct. 31. Safe and Super Halloween at Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive, is happening all weekend from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Gates close at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for nonmembers and $12 for members.
Visit a pumpkin patch around the Sacramento area with the family, Yelp reviewers recently listed the five favorite patches around the capital region.
David Nihill is performing standup comedy at Punchline Sacramento, 2100 Arden Way, at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets start at $32.
Keon Polee will perform standup comedy at Laughs Unlimited, 1207 Front St., in Old Sacramento at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets start at $29.
Tea and Poetry Open Mic Night hosted by Shenay LaSoul and Jah Herbs N’ Roots happens at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mother Natives, 4421 24th St. in Sacramento. Tickets are $17.85 on Eventbrite.
Jeff Chang performs at The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort, 1200 Athens Ave. in Lincoln at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for the award-winning Chinese pop artist start at $108.
The Art of War is a comedic play performed at The Sofia, B Street Theatre, 2700 Capitol Ave. There are various showtimes on Saturday and Sunday. Adult tickets start at $37. Student, senior and veteran tickets are $33.
“Ojo” is an exhibit by artist, curator and a former museum director Julio César Morales who grew up along the United States and Mexico border between San Diego and Tijuana. His art explores his lived experiences through a variety of media — including video, prints, watercolors, sculpture and photography. The free event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Sunday at Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, 254 Old Davis Road in Davis.
