Halloween in Sacramento headline weekend events guide. Here’s what happening
It’s officially Halloween weekend, and Sacramento is packed with events for all ages.
From concerts and sports to haunted attractions and local art showcases, this weekend’s lineup offers a wide range of activities—many with a spooky seasonal twist. The Sacramento Bee’s guide highlights events for families with young children, teens, adults and seniors across the region.
According to the National Weather Service office in Sacramento, the capital region should expect sunny days and clear nights throughout the weekend with day temperatures around the high 70s and evening temperatures near the mid to lows 50s.
Daytime temperatures make for a nice outing, but if you’re staying out past sunset, bring a jacket or something to stay warm.
Here’s a look at what’s happening in the Sacramento region this weekend:
Sacramento Official Halloween Bar Crawl
Sacramento’s official Halloween Bar Crawl kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday, inviting adults in costume to celebrate at venues across downtown and midtown.
Participants are encouraged to come dressed as ghosts, ghouls, vampires, witches or pop culture characters. The crawl includes access to multiple bars, drink specials, and a $2,000 costume contest.
Participating venues this year include K Doco Bar, B-Side, Goldfield Trading Post, 8 Track, Tack Room, Cafeteria 15L, Mix Downtown, and Iron Horse Tavern and Mas Taco on R Street.
A ticket grants access to the different venues, a free kickoff party, a free after party, up to three free drinks or shots, food and drink specials, themed drinks and a $2,000 social media costume contest. Those who finish the crawl can get a free pub crawl ticket on Pubcrawls.com.
Sacramento Halloween Bar Crawl tickets are $27.58 after taxes and fees on Eventbrite.
Disney On Ice
Disney On Ice is a staple event that invites families to watch some of the most popular Disney movies adapted into a world-class ice figure skating, aerial acrobatic story-telling adventure.
This weekend there will be six shows across two days showcasing Disney On Ice at Golden 1 Center, 500 David J Stern Walk, inside the Downtown Commons shopping plaza in Sacramento.
Featured shows include “Frozen” and “Encanto” welcoming families and their children to sing-along to their favorite songs from the films.
The showings are 11 a.m., 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday. The Sunday showcase is at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $33.
15th Annual Sacramento Vegan Chef Challenge
Various restaurants and chefs throughout Sacramento are introducing special-curated vegan options at participating locations.
Patrons have the chance to go out, enjoy meals, review and rate their favored-or-not-so-liked dishes and post photos to social media, tagging “@SacVeganChefChallenge”.
Although aimed at attracting vegans, the free event is open to everyone. Vegan dish prices may vary. See participating locations and their menus here.
It’s A Girlfriend Celebration
It’s A Girlfriend Celebration, hosted by nonprofit Rich Girl Dream Inc., is a two-day event on Friday and Saturday at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, 1401 K St., downtown.
The event includes speakers, panelists and a lot of fun icebreaker activities such as double Dutch jump rope, hula-hooping and karaoke. Event founder Charmaine Bassett said the purpose is to “promote sisterhood among women and to celebrate friendship.”
“I love seeing women come together. They’re so excited. One is giving them something to do is literally restoring them to where friendship can be. And they’re excited about meeting new women of all ages,” Bassett said.
Bassett said the event is for all ages, as women from 18 to 94 years old have attended her past events.
Tickets are priced at $125 for the two-day event, however using the promo code “GFC2025” event goers will receive a discount and tickets cost $99. The event is from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
UC Davis versus Idaho State
The UC Davis Aggies are on a five game winning streak and look to continue to ride that momentum into their Week 10 matchup against Idaho State.
The Aggies enter the game with a 6-1 record, including 4-0 in Big Sky conference games. Idaho State Bengals (2-6) are in search of a must-have win after losing three straight games.
The game starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at UC Davis Health Stadium, 426 W Health Sciences Dr. in Davis.
General admission tickets start at $27 and tickets for children ages 3 to 13 are $17. All ticket prices rise by $3 on game day.
Saturday Night Dance Fever ’25
The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort, 1200 Athens Ave. in Lincoln, is hosting a Saturday night boogie down with a blast from the past with legendary artists and bands including Kool and The Gang, Heatwave, Tavares and The Trammps featuring Earl Young.
Kool and The Gang are known for timeless hits from “Celebration”, “Get Down On It”, and “Ladies Night”. Heatwave will bring the house down with their classics “Always and Forever”, “Boogie Nights”, “Ain’t No Half Steppin’” and “Too Hot to Handle”.
Tavares is expected to perform “A Penny For Your Thoughts” and “Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel”. The Trammps with Earl Young will play their hits “Disco Inferno”, “Ninety-Nine and a Half” and “Soul Bones”.
The event, emceed by Deney Terrio, begins at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $75.
Jiaoying Summers: What Specie Are You? Tour
Jiaoying Summers is a Chinese American stand-up comedian, actress and producer who has become a viral sensation on TikTok surpassing a billion views and more than four million followers.
Her style of comedy stems from her personal experiences of cultural clashes, immigrant identity, and motherhood.
As part of her What Specie Are You? tour, Summers will perform at Punchline Sacramento, 2100 Arden Way, at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets start at $32.
Sacramento Republic FC hosts Orange County
Sacramento Republic FC will host Orange County SC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2025 USL Championship Playoffs on Sunday at Heart Health Park, 1600 Exposition Blvd.
The match marks the start of Republic FC’s push for a second league title since the club’s founding in 2014.
The postseason run also serves as a farewell for longtime captain Rodrigo “RoRo” Lopez, who announced he will retire at the end of the season. Lopez, the team’s first-ever signing, plans to move into a player development role with the organization.
Kickoff is 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $25.

Slander is performing in concert bringing their dance and electronic genre to Heart Health Park, 1600 Exposition Blvd. in Sacramento, starting 5:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets start at $107.
Movies Under the Stars invites Sacramento residents to Old Sacramento State Historic Park, 111 I St., to watch Halloween-themed movies in the park. The Sixth Sense will be screened starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Check-in is at 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $10, preferred seating is $25 and luxury seating $35.
It’s A 2000s (Halloween) Party is taking place at Ace of Spades, 1417 R St., starting at 8 p.m. Friday. Costumes are encouraged. The event is for ages 18 and older. Tickets start at $48.
The 16th Annual El Panteón de Sacramento at 2700 Front St. in Old Sacramento features live dance, music and dozens of traditional memorials which will be created by families and friends to honor those who have passed. The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10.
Recuerdos Ilustrados celebrates Día de los Muertos journeying through life, love and death through contemporary altars and artwork by artists Álvaro Márquez, Stephanie Mercado and Daniel Villa. General admission tickets are $10, children between age 6 to 17, students, seniors and military tickets are $8 and members and children up to 5 are free. The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The 4th Annual Golden Harvest Parade and Festival promoting unity, harmony and peace in Sacramento is taking place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The event begins with a citywide karaoke session at 10 a.m. The parade is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting at 9th St. and Capitol Mall. The vendor fair follows the parade.
The 5th Annual Dia de Los Muertos Celebration at 905 Drever Street in West Sacramento is a free event from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday honoring culture and community in their “Day of the Dead” celebration. The event includes live cultural performances, crafts and games, a car show and food.
