Buddha Bowls & Rolls to replace Chando’s Tacos in East Sacramento
A third Buddha Bowls & Rolls is coming to Sacramento, according to a post from the restaurant’s social media.
Self-described as an “Asian Chipotle,” Buddha Bowls & Rolls is a build your-own-bowl and banh mi restaurant that got its start in Sacramento.
A video tease of the new location shows the blurred image of the former Chando’s Tacos at 5644 J St. in East Sacramento.
A different video from April also teased the new location. Co-owner Justin Fong said the new restaurant would not be in the downtown, and would have more parking options.
“This is gonna be a different one,” Fong said in the video. “This is gonna be like our first standalone Buddha.”
Chando’s Tacos abruptly closed all of its Sacramento locations in July 2025. It reopened three locations following a three-month hiatus.
Buddha Bowls & Rolls currently has two locations in Sacramento, 801 14th St. in Mansion Flats and 715 P St. downtown, according to its website.
Buddha Bowls & Rolls on 14th Street is open Mondays to Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, the restaurant operates from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The P Street location is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The restaurant also serves build-your-own spring rolls and sugarcane drinks, tea and Vietnamese coffee, according to its menu.
“Buddha Bowls and Rolls celebrates foods and flavors representative of the Asian-American experience,” its website reads.
