See the best view in all of Sacramento as we visit a top-floor penthouse

A penthouse atop the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel in downtown Sacramento has unobstructed views of nearly every landmark around: Renaissance Tower skyscraper, the State Capitol, the Sacramento River, Tower Bridge, The Ziggurat in West Sacramento, J Street, the Railyards, the Museum of Science and Curiosity and, on a clear day, the mountaintops of Lake Tahoe.

The Sacramento Bee spent part of an afternoon at 500 J Street #1801, one of the luxury hotel’s 45 residences, as part of our Bee My Guest series spotlighting our favorite home features. This time, we visit our favorite view.

The downtown penthouse is for sale for $4.385 million, with an offer pending. It is the most expensive condominium ever listed in Sacramento, according to Coldwell Banker Realty.

The condominium spans nearly 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
