Original story published Feb. 27:
After days of windy rainstorms, the latest being over the weekend into Monday, Sacramento is moving toward clear skies — regardless if it’s only temporary.
But the city is still far below its normal rainfall for the month.
From Friday to Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, roughly 1.25 inches of rain fell across Sacramento. More than 1.6 inches of rainfall has already dropped across the region, which is almost half the normal amount for February.
Rain and thunderstorms are in Sacramento’s forecast until at least Tuesday with wind gusts as high as 30 mph. The region could receive brief break from Wednesday to Friday before the damp weather returns Saturday with a high of 56 degrees.
Blizzard conditions are underway in the greater Tahoe region and travel is strongly discouraged. Parts of Highway 50 and Interstate 80 are shutdown through mountain passes.
