Sacramento police search for silver SUV in hit-and-run that killed pedestrian
Investigators on Tuesday afternoon released images of a silver SUV they believe struck a pedestrian last month in a deadly hit-and-run near south Sacramento.
The Sacramento Police Department released images of what is believed to be a silver 2006 or 2007 Nissan Pathfinder SUV that hit the pedestrian about 8:30 p.m. April 26 near Lemon Hill Avenue and the 65th Street Expressway in the Fruitridge Manor area.
William Andrew Akens, 26, was the pedestrian hit by the vehicle in the hit-and-run, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver in the vehicle suspected of hitting Akens drove away and has not been identified, according to the Police Department.
Police said the silver SUV captured on cameras has six-spoke wheels and a sunroof, and the Nissan Pathfinder might have moderate damage on its front bumper and driver’s side.
Investigators asked anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run or the suspect vehicle to call the Police Department at 916-808-5471.
