Grandma’s late husband sparks urge to play lottery and she wins big in Maryland
A grandma is thanking her late husband after he inspired her to play the lottery, Maryland officials said.
The Randallstown woman was thinking of her late husband who played the lottery often when she decided to buy a $10 Ravens X10 ticket, according to an April 16 news release from the Maryland Lottery.
She ended up winning $200,000 with the Reisterstown ticket, officials said.
“There was no rhyme or reason to it,” the woman told lottery officials about the ticket she picked.
After scratching the ticket, the woman realized she had won but “kept her emotions in check,” only telling her son and going with him to claim the prize money, officials said.
She plans to use the money to send her grandkids to college, officials said.
Three more Ravens X10 tickets carrying $200,000 are waiting to be claimed, officials said.
Reisterstown is about a 20-mile drive northwest of Baltimore.
