If you’re going to be on the road Monday during rush hour, the National Weather Service Sacramento Office warns of some of the most intense weather conditions we’ve seen of the winter storm pummeling the region.

According to the National Weather Service, commuters on the road between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. will see more intensified rain and winds gusting between 40 and 50 mph. in the area. Expect roadway ponds due to clogged drains.

“Later this afternoon, probably around the evening commute time, there could be a more intense band of rain coming through,” said meteorologist Eric Kurth with the National Weather Service Sacramento Office. “So that’s just something we’ll be watching in terms of causing some street flooding.”

NWS issued a wind advisory Monday morning that will last until 10 p.m.

Strong winds could result in broken tree limbs and power outages.

The weather is expected to progress to more difficult driving conditions throughout the day Monday.

Remember to secure loose objects and expect longer than normal commute times.
