Prices are dropping for 49ers’ playoff tickets, but don’t expect to find a bargain
If you want to see the San Francisco 49ers host the Minnesota Vikings in person Saturday, you’d better look at secondary sites like Stubhub. The 49ers announced late Monday that the game is officially sold out.
The good news for fans still looking for seats is prices on the secondary market have dropped a little. Prices a week ago hovered around $250 to get a seat in the upper corners of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The cheap seats hovered a little under $225 on Tuesday, possibly indicating fans weren’t enthused about a matchup with the Vikings, the lowest seed in the NFC.
The price drop could be because they had nowhere to go but down. A Ticketmaster price study last week found the 49ers had the highest average playoff ticket price in the league for the Divisional Round at $506 a ticket. That’s about double the Kansas City Chiefs’ average of $252 a ticket.
The last time San Francisco hosted the conference championship game was after the 2011 season, when they lost to the eventual champion New York Giants 20-17 in overtime at Candlestick Park.
