Downtown Sacramento’s Comeback?
Downtown Sacramento is struggling to fill the void left by the tens of thousands of people now working from home. But business is getting a boost from crowds returning to events at Golden 1 Center like “Hamilton” and Kings games.
Expand All
Downtown Commons is not just a place to see Harry Styles live in concert or the spot to catch the Sacramento Kings go head-to-head with the Los Angeles Lakers at Golden 1 Center. The plaza, also known as DoCo, is the destination for locals and tourists alike who want to hang out, shop and grab good food.
Situated in downtown Sacramento, DoCo houses different types of retail stores and restaurants in its 1.5 million square feet. Here’s a guide to all the places you need to hit if you’re visiting Downtown Commons.
Eats and Drinks
Burger Lounge
The Burger Lounge prides itself with its responsibly sourced meats and plant-based proteins. Their hand-crafted burgers include grass-fed beef and organic cheeses, as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. You can also pair your burgers with milkshakes and root beer floats, which also come in dairy-free alternatives.
Echo & Rig
Chef Sam Marvin reinvents steakhouses with a farm-to-fork approach at Echo & Rig — all very fitting for the Farm-to-Fork Capital. This is the second location of the restaurant, with the first in Las Vegas. Some of the top menu picks are the Portobello fries, steaks and bone marrow carne asada.
Poke Ichii
Poke Ichii serves fresh poke bowls that you can build yourself. They offer a variety of proteins, such as torch-seared Albacore tuna, yellowtail hamachi, salmon and spicy scallop. They also have signature bowls, poke nachos, spam musubi and macaron ice cream.
Polanco Cantina
Not only does Polanco Cantina offer lunch and dinner, but the contemporary Mexican eatery also has weekend brunch and happy hour too. The Mexican-inspired plates, such as the carnitas quesadillas and mole de pollo, are made with local ingredients. Polanco Cantina also has an extensive drinks menu with margaritas, draft beer, cocktails, tequila and wine.
Rare Tea
Top off your foodie adventure at Downtown Commons with a strawberry milk tea or taro smoothie at Rare Tea. The teas and drinks are made with locally sourced fruits, real cane sugar and jams made in-house.
Shop
Identity Boutique
Identity Boutique has an inventory of trendy styles for women and men, from streetwear to athleisure. They also have knick-knacks, such as tote bags, candles and stationery — all perfect for gift giving. You can shop in-stores or purchase your goodies online and pick them up at DoCo.
Kings Team Store
Going to a game and need some quick gear? Kings fans can get official jerseys, collectibles, hats and sweatshirts and represent the team at the Kings Team Store. They also carry the latest collection drops, oftentimes exclusively in-store only at DoCo. You can visit their Facebook page for the latest updates.
Impound Comics
Sacramento’s homegrown comic store can be found next to Echo and Rig. The store is the inspiration of Brent “Trayce” Sands and Antawn Bryant, whose series “The Impund” is about a Sacramento superhero.
The Lash Lounge
You can also stop by DoCo and get some custom eyelash extensions or permanent makeup at The Lash Lounge. The upscale salon also does lash lifts, which is a treatment that helps lashes have a lasting curl. You can review the full detail of their services and prices on their website.
Getta Clue Store
Snag premier streetwear brands and sneakers at the Getta Clue Store in Downtown Commons. Founded in 1992, Getta Clue has the latest trends in footwear and clothing from Supreme, Cookies and A Bathing Ape. Just last week, the store also held a live album battle, hosted by DJ and emcee Knowbody.
