Man killed shooting near Florin Road in south Sacramento identified by coroner

The victim killed in last week’s shooting in the Florin neighborhood of south Sacramento that also wounded four others was identified Monday.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Teray Jones, 34.

Deputies located the five victims June 10 in the area of 68th Avenue and Della Circle, according to a news release by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities “believe the shooting was targeted,” but have not released additional information on a suspect or a motive.

The incident was the third fatal shooting reported by law enforcement in the area in the span of five days this month. In total, the three incidents have left three dead and nine hurt.

Della Circle was the same road where 3-year-old Azalya Anderson was shot and killed inside her home by a stray bullet in September 2018. Three men were arrested in connection with the shooting.

Anyone with information into last week’s shooting is encouraged to call deputies at 916-874-8477 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Tips can also be submitted confidentially through the P3 Tips website and app. There is a reward of up to $1,000.
