My brother-in-law has two teenage children and he has decided his next hobby is going to be racing cars. I, of course, realize he could be hit by a car walking across the street at any time. The issue is his engaging in a very risky hobby while these kids are still in the house. The kids have been raised in a way that neither of us agree with and if they were to come under our care, it would be very difficult for everyone involved.

DEAR CAROLYN: My husband and I have an ongoing fight. I’m not good at a lot of things. I know this from all my humiliating attempts at extracurricular activities as a child. If I am not good at something, I’m not enjoying myself, and I withdraw quickly. I’m OK with that.
DEAR CAROLYN: My spouse and I are on the cusp of what feels like the next phase in our lives. Our only child is a senior in high school and is very excited about going off to college next year. My spouse is finishing up his MBA in January and looking for new career opportunities. I am in a contract (teacher) until next summer, but I could look for another job at any time.
