An excessive heat warning was extended to Thursday in Sacramento, as triple-digit temperatures continue to bake the region.
Initially, the National Weather Service issued the warning from Saturday to Monday. But the latest heat wave is unrelenting.
Updated forecasts call for Monday to see a high near 113 degrees. Tuesday could hit 115, Wednesday 109 and Thursday 113. The run of triple-digit temperatures is expected to end with Friday’s high near 110.
Saturday’s high could drop to 97 degrees
This week’s heat wave could rank as the second-longest streak of 100-plus days in Sacramento history.
Air quality
As of 10 a.m. air quality in most of the Sacramento area was rated as good.
Sacramento’s air quality index was at 23, with 0 to 50 considered in the good range. However, the forecast for the worst levels of the day and Tuesday is unhealthy for sensitive groups, at 126 for both days.
Roseville-Rocklin’s late-morning AQI was at 28. Forecasts there for the rest of the day and Tuesday are 119 and 136, respectively.
Rio Vista was facing moderate forecasts, with 56 PM 2.5, as of 10 a.m. and 93 for the rest of the day and Tuesday.
